TRAINING OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN LIQUID SOAP AND DETERGENTS MAKING.

The primary objective of the training was to equip people with disabilities (PWDs) in the community with practical skills in the production of liquid soap and detergents as a means of promoting economic empowerment, self-reliance, and social inclusion.

The training also seeks to promote economic independence and financial stability among PWDs through skill acquisition which will offer them the opportunity to earn an income, thereby reducing reliance on others.  

Also, with diversified income sources individuals with disabilities can reduce vulnerability and poverty to enhance their financial security and socioeconomic status in society.

TRAINING ACTIVTIES CONDUCTED:

The training which took place on the 21st October 2025 at Parambo Pentecost church drew fifty (50) participants comprising of 32 females and 18 males from Parambo-Sawaba zone were introduced to the concept of income generating activities (IGAs) and its importance to personal and community development.

DEMONSTRATION SESSIONS: Step-by-step practical demonstrations were conducted on how to make

  • Liquid soap
  • Shower Jell
  • Multi-purpose detergent.

HANDS ON PRACTICE: All participants were actively involved in producing the products to reinforce learning.

PAKAGING AND MARKETING TIPS: Guidance was provided on basic packaging, pricing, branding and how to access local markets.

SAFETY AND HYGINE: Emphasis was placed on safety precautions and hygienic practices during production which includes wearing hand gloves, nose masks, keeping products from reach of children and keeping containers clean immediately after use.

The training goals were successfully met as the participants gained valuable skills that will contribute to their financial independence and social empowerment. With continued support and monitoring, the impact of this initiative can be sustainable and far reaching.
