The establishment of the 3% Disability fund has the fundamental principle of ‘Leave no one behind because of disability’. Pru East District assembly in 2025 took up the responsibilities to empower people living with disabilities in various income generating activities in the district to significantly improve upon the living conditions and socio-economic status of this vulnerable group.
Among the support received by beneficiaries included items such as deep freezers, fufu processing machines, provisions for income generating activities and apprenticeship and as well as cash for both medical and educational needs.
In a mini presentation ceremony 23rd December, 2025 at the forecourt of the district assembly, beneficiaries were encouraged and advised by the MP, District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director and the District Social Welfare Officer to put their received items and cash into good use in order to achieve the good purpose for which the fund was established by government, thus improving upon their living conditions and socio-economic status in our society. One hundred and nine (109) were total beneficiaries and out of this number was forty-eight (48) females and sixty-one (61) males
