The Pru East District Assembly has organized a clean-up exercise across Yeji as part of activities to observe National Sanitation Day, marked on the first Saturday of every month in accordance with the directive of His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama.
The exercise involved desilting of gutters and sweeping of major market centres, including the Harbor, Nsuoano, Morocco, and Everyday markets, with the aim of improving environmental cleanliness and public health in the district.
Speaking after the exercise, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Nassir Duada, expressed appreciation to all participants for their active involvement and commitment. He emphasized that the sanitation exercise will be conducted regularly and disclosed that plans are underway to construct refuse dumps and provide waste containers to enhance effective waste management across the district.
Hon. Duada further expressed concern over the increasing cases of typhoid and cholera in the Pru East District and urged residents to take environmental cleanliness seriously as a shared responsibility to safeguard public health.
The District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a clean and healthy environment through sustained sanitation initiatives.
