The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, paid an official visit to the Pru East District on 26th August, 2025 to engage traditional authorities and key stakeholders on development issues affecting the district.
Welcoming the Minister, the Paramount Chief of Yeji, Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, highlighted major concerns including inadequate police presence, poor road infrastructure, declining fishing activities, and the need to strengthen agriculture. He noted that only 17 out of 30 promised police officers are currently deployed and disclosed that a community-led committee, Yejiman for Development, has introduced a five-cedi levy on passengers to support local security efforts. He also mentioned the availability of about 40,000 acres of land for agro-business development.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Dauda Abdul Nassir, explained that the visit was to allow the Regional Minister to introduce himself, thank the Chiefs and people for their support, and seek their blessings, while reaffirming government’s commitment to ongoing development projects.
Responding to the concerns, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi assured the gathering that security would be strengthened through increased police deployment and the support of special forces and naval units. He announced plans under the upcoming Feed Ghana Programme, including the establishment of a Farmer’s Service Center, and indicated that sanitation and education-related requests would be considered in future development plans.
The visit was attended by traditional leaders, district officials, security agencies, political party representatives, the Information Services Department, and members of the media.
