The Pru East District Assembly on 15th May 2026 officially conducted the site presentation and sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 24-hour market at Yeji Station One. The event marked the commencement of a major infrastructure project aimed at improving trading activities and promoting economic development within the district.
The construction of the market forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to provide a conducive environment for businesses, increase commercial activities, and create employment opportunities for residents. The project is expected to address the growing demand for modern market infrastructure and support local economic growth.

The ceremony brought together the District Chief Executive, the Member of Parliament for Pru East, traditional authorities, key stakeholders, and members of the community. During the event, the project site was officially handed over to the contractor to begin construction works.
Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive expressed his excitement about the commencement of the project and highlighted its importance to the district’s development agenda. He noted that the 24-hour market would enhance business operations, create employment opportunities, and improve the livelihoods of residents through increased economic activities.

The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kwaku Boam, encouraged the contractor to prioritize the engagement of local labour throughout the construction period. He emphasized that involving local residents would create employment opportunities, strengthen the local economy, and contribute to improved living standards within the district.
Traditional leaders and other stakeholders who attended the event expressed their appreciation to the Government and all partners involved in making the project a reality. They pledged their support and cooperation to ensure the successful completion of the market project for the benefit of the entire district.
The construction of the 24-hour market is expected to significantly improve commercial activities in Yeji and surrounding communities.
