The Pru East District Assembly has officially inaugurated the Pru East District Sports Committee as part of its commitment to promoting sports development, youth empowerment, and community participation across the district.
The inauguration ceremony brought together heads of departments, representatives of National and Regional sports Authority and sports enthusiasts. The event underscored the Assembly’s determination to harness the power of sports as a catalyst for social and economic development.
In his address, the District Chief Executive emphasized the important role of sports in promoting discipline, unity, healthy living, and talent development. He charged the newly inaugurated committee to work diligently to identify and nurture sporting talent, organize district-level sporting activities, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance sports development throughout the district.
The committee is expected to work closely with schools, sports associations, traditional authorities, and development partners to promote grassroots sports, improve participation among young people, and recommend strategies for strengthening sports infrastructure within the district.
A notable highlight of the inauguration was the introduction of Inusah Musah, former Accra Hearts of Oak and Petro de Luanda footballer, as a member of the committee. His wealth of experience, professional expertise, and passion for sports development are expected to significantly enhance the committee’s efforts to discover and mentor emerging talents
On behalf of the committee, the Chairperson, Hon. Fiawornu Bright expressed appreciation to the Pru East District Assembly for the confidence reposed in its members and pledged their commitment to serving with dedication, professionalism, and transparency in advancing sports development.
The Pru East District Assembly remains committed to investing in youth development through sports and believes that the inauguration of the District Sports Committee marks the beginning of a renewed effort to discover and develop the district’s sporting talent for regional, national, and international success.
